special animated cards

Current version is:
Tested this patch both on my desktop and laptop before making it available here.
As stated at addons.mozilla.org i'm not the creator of this extension, Jason Heddings is.
I was missing it badly and, since no new version came out, i started to maintain / develop it myself.
Initially I did it only for me, but, seeing that many are missing it, I made it available.
The xpi contains changes for install part and bugfixes and optimizations. In history section you can see what was changed in which version.
If you have anything to report please use the link below and I'll try to fix as soon as I have some free time.

If you have a lot of bookmarks to synchronize, the extension will need more time to finish than the limit defined by the default config settings (five seconds).
A message about a script beeing busy or not responding will popup.
The popup has buttons to stop the script or let it run further and you'll have to allow it to continue.

This applies to any script running in content or chrome:
If you want to change the time after which Firefox shows the message above, type about:config in adress bar and change dom.max_script_run_time and/or dom.max_chrome_script_run_time.

Version history
version 0.5.3
  • in "Favorites" tab: new checkbox "If contained, map 'Bookmarks' toolbar to 'Links' toolbar", beneath "Clean folder prior to sync".
If the bookmarks toolbar of Firefox is found in you synchronized folder, it will be mapped to Links toolbar of Internet Explorer. Thus the two toolbars will be also kept in sync.
Renaming your 'Bookmarks toolbar folder' in Firefox will not change this behaviour, as the extension recognizes it using folder's properties and not the name.
version 0.5.2
  • in "Favorites" tab: new radio buttons group "Migrate or create icons for bookmarks". Available options are:
    • "No" (Don't try to create or migrate any favicon)
    • "Yes, for all" (Try to create the favicon for every bookmark)
    • "Yes, if Firefox has the icon" (Try to migrate the favicon for those bookmarks having one)
    Short explanation:
The icons are defined in Firefox as base64 encoded data in the bookmarks file. InternetExplorer holds the information about the icon in the file of the bookmark, in form of address and position. The extension creates now the two entries in bookmark's file, the address for the icon beeing parsed out from the url of the bookmark. Anyway, even when the favicon data is in the file, Internet Explorer shows the icon depending on some other factors (cache, visited or not and so on).
version 0.5.1
  • in "General" tab: new check box "Show button in status bar". Switches the icon in status bar on/off.
  • fix: getting boolean values from saved preferences
version 0.5.0
  • install a button in your status bar: clicking it will open the SyncMarks panel, giving you direct access (so you don't have to do the whole clicking anymore to get to it).
  • in "General" tab: new section "Infos". Here you'll see your version and a link directly to the homepage of the extension. In the next days I'll change also the homepage to show you if you have a current version or not, when coming from this link.
  • in "General" tab: new check box "Verbose mode". If checked the extension will display some more infos about what's doing (sync done ; not need to sync - when nothing changed and "Don't sync unless Firefox changed" is checked - ; error's message if any caught - to give more infos if something crashes ; ... )
  • avoid "desktop.ini" file when cleaning the Favorites directory (Vista issue).
version 0.4.4
  • fix: the synchronization on close
  • logs to Console
version 0.4.3
  • fix: not seeing changes on the very root of bookmarks
  • fix: the synchronization at start-up (fixed by Marco)
version 0.4.2
  • fix: bookmarks with names longer than 150 chars crashing SyncMarks. They are now reduced to the first 150 chars, which I think is a reasonable length for a bookmark name.
version 0.4.1
  • increased supported version to < 2.1
version 0.4.0
  • folder name empty, folder name composed only from illegal characters (from Windows point of wiev): the folder will be created as "SyncMarks_CSenchiu_AllStripped_" plus the index of the folder in the parent folder (so your structure will be kept even when 2 or more such folder have the same parent). Afterwards you can rename them as you wish of course.
  • folder with names ending in ".." (interpreted afterwards by the code like folder navigation): will be synced but without "." in their names.
between version 0.3.0 and 0.4.0:
  • patched BUT no versioning, no change history, no nothing.
version 0.3.0
  • Jason dropped it, I took it over
